When you're on vacation, you'll probably want to enjoy some of the cuisine the Yellowstone Region has to offer. While the settings of many of the restaurants within the park are without parallel and reward the diner enough to make them well worth your time, the food is often basic and not exciting. This may be a result of near monopoly conditions within the park or a result of most of the restaurants being seasonal.

Outside the park, on the other hand, competition thrives. It sometimes seems like there is a restaurant for every niche. From sportsbars to fine dining, from steakhouses to chinese or thai, Gateway businesses compete on the open market on price, atmosphere, menu, vibe, and other intangible criteria.
