Named one of the top thirteen most scenic race courses in the country, this relaxed event, a celebration of summer, has 6 and 10k opportunities for adults and a kids' race, too. A festival atmosphere prevails as walkers and runners from all over the area gather. The traffic-free route winds its way into the National Forest along the Rendezvous Trail System. Now in its 37th year, the Yellowstone Rod Run annually draws five to seven hundred street rods from all over the States. Cruises, barbecues and various competitions are available to registrants. Saturday's Parade of Rods on Canyon Street is an event highlight. The Show & Shine in City Park, where a festival atmosphere prevails, is also on Saturday and is open and free to the public. Living History and Trader's Row are the core of this opportunity to experience the West and its people. Demonstrations of carding and spinning wool, making butter and leather workings; seminars on Native American culture and the Fur Trade era; entertainment and competitions such as Cowboy Poetry, Storytelling, Black Powder Shoot, and Knife and Tomahawk Throws are all part of the the ten-day mix. Bicycle in Yellowstone for free and before the Park is open to public automobiles or buses. It's a perfect way to spend a day. From West Yellowstone you can ride to Madison Junction and then to the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone or Mammoth Hot Springs (the road between Madison and Old Faithful remains closed to all until April 18 and no services are available in the park).
