By Car
Driving by automobile is by far the most popular way to get to Yellowstone National Park.
In the summer five major roads lead into the Yellowstone.
They are:
– North: enter via Gardiner on US 89
– West: enter via West Yellowstone on US 20
– South: enter via Jackson and US 89
– East: Enter via Cody on US 16
– Northeast: Enter via Silver Gate and Cooke City on US 212
In winter, there is only one road open to automobiles. All other entrances are open to over-snow travel.

By Air
Yellowstone has no airports of its own, but communities surrounding the park offer major airline service. From there, you can rent a car or join a tour.

Billings: 129 miles northeast of park
Bozeman: 87 miles north of park
West Yellowstone (summer season only): 3 miles west of park
Jackson: 56 miles south of park
Cody: 52 miles east of park

Greyhound to Bozeman, Livingston and West Yellowstone
Gray Line Tours: West Yellowstone connects with Jackson
Rental Cars
Rental cars are available at area airports and gateway towns.
Train
Although trains were once the main method of reaching the park, they longer reach Yellowstone.
Getting Around Yellowstone Park
Automobile is by far the most popular method of seeing a lot of the park. The roads are also open to bicycles but are often considered dangerously narrow for bicycles to comfortably share with cars.
